The Annual Daffodil Festival April 25 - 27, 2008 Nantucket's traditional welcome to spring held in late April, when over 3 million daffodils blooms and turn the countryside into a vivid yellow tapestry. Events include the Annual Antique and Classic Car Parade, and the Annual Tailgate Picnic, as well as activities such as hiking, fishing, bird watching, and seal cruises. The Nantucket Wine Festival May 14-18, 2008 This May festival provides opportunities to sample some of the finest wines from many great viticultural areas as presented by the wine makers or their representatives and to enjoy events in some of the island's grandest private houses and other places not open to the public. The Nantucket Film Festival June 19-22, 2008 Held in June this festival brings thousands to the island to view dozens of cutting edge films. Nantucket Comedy Festival July 28 - August 2, 2008 The first, and hopefully annual, week-long comedy event to benefit island charities. Fun for the whole family. Annual Sandcastle and Sculpture Day August 16, 2008 At the height of August summer, Islanders and visitors create masterpiece sandcastles and sand sculptures on Jetties Beach. The contest lasts all afternoon and ribbons are awarded in various categories. Nantucket Arts Festival Fall, 2008 Sponsored by the Nantucket Arts Council and held in October this week long festival brings together the best of performing, visual, and literary arts on the island. Nantucket Restaurant Week September 29 - October 5 Enjoy the taste of Nantucket Island during this culinary extravaganza. Most all island restaurants offer special prix fix tasting menus at very special prices! |
